The next type of algae that you need to get to know more about is chlorella. This is a type of algae that grows in freshwater, and it is also referred to as seaweed too. It can be used in a form of supplement or even as a form of medicine too and is also considered to be a superfood as well.

While it is a close relative of spirulina, chlorella can actually provide some more benefits for your body that spirulina can’t. It can have higher levels of vitamins and minerals, and it even contains more healthy fats, such as omega-3s. 

There are many more benefits that you should be aware of when it comes to chlorella, which include everything from:

When it comes down to it, both are high in antioxidants, and they both may benefit blood sugar levels, and also improve heart health, but chlorella can be higher in calories and fat and it also contains a higher level of omega-3 fatty acids. Spirulina, on the other hand, can be higher in protein.
